I agree that Snyder has remained consistent to his vision throughout the trilogy, but for me, that wasn’t a selling point. The Superman v Batman fight was too obviously copied from Frank Miller, but in The Dark Knight Returns, it was the logical conclusion of a story arc. In BvS, it could have been a decent climax were it not for the incredibly silly resolution, but instead, it just makes the final boss fight feel like a rehash.
The only scene in the entire film I thought showed any real imagination was when Clark Kent, with his super-hearing, overhears the communication between Alfred and Bruce Wayne. I don’t remember whether Superman learned anything useful from this, but it’s the only moment I remember that showed Snyder has any understanding of the superhero genre more sophisticated than bashing action figures together to see which one breaks.
